The Heights Community Engagement Workgroups
The City’s Master Plan is approved and it’s our job to bring this plan to life. During this time, we will work with community members to gather feedback that will guide development decisions. To accomplish this goal, we will host a number of topic-specific workshops with residents from both Saint Paul and Maplewood.
Sessions starting in early 2023
We will select 10-12 people who are tied to the Greater Eastside of Saint Paul and have a passion for public art to join our Public Art Community Engagement Workgroup. The application window closed on January 26, 2022.
The Outdoor Spaces Workgroup met three times during the Fall of 2022 and may join the Public Art Workgroup for one additional meeting in the Winter of 2023. This group collaborated with Port Authority staff to identify community priorities for outdoor spaces that fall outside of the five-acre park, which will be managed by the City of Saint Paul.
The Housing Workgroup met on Thursday evenings through the summer of 2022. In these meetings, they collaborated with the Port Authority team on the housing needs at The Heights.
The Urban Design Workgroup met every other Thursday January through May, 2022. In these meetings, they collaborated with the Port Team about the design framework as it relates to streets, blocks, lots, and buildings. Following these meetings, videos, meeting minutes, and workgroup recommendations were posted online.
