In June, neighbors should start seeing movement on the site. To start, a temporary office/site trailer will be brought in to support construction work and some minor digging will take place. More notably, the existing buildings will be taken down. Neighbors can rest assured that asbestos will be removed before any demolition work takes place. More importantly, there are no public safety concerns associated with these activities.
July through August 2023
July and August is when our vendors will start remediating contaminated soils. Neighbors will see the removal of trees and digging of soil. Soils that exceed health risk standards will be safely removed and taken to an appropriate landfill. Soils with lower contamination levels will be managed in accordance to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Minnesota Department of Agriculture approved clean-up plan. This process will be monitored closely by an environmental engineer.
August through December 2023
Our vendors will continue with mass grading until the ground freezes. This work will only happen once contamination levels are deemed safe and the ongoing use of water will minimize dust particles in the air.
Remediation work will pick back up once the ground thaws. We expect to complete remediation by December 2024 and then start the roadwork in the Spring of 2024.
