HealthEast Medical Transportation has been successfully meeting the needs of our community for more than 134 years. We support our community by providing more than 30,000 calls annually. Our ambulance teams are staffed by some of the most experienced paramedics and EMTs in the region, helping to make HealthEast Medical Transportation a leader in Minnesota for emergency and non-emergency ambulance service.

Our critical care transport units are staffed with at least one certified Critical Care Paramedic. HealthEast Critical Care Paramedics complete extensive training that includes: advanced hemodynamic monitoring, balloon pumps, left ventricular assist devices, advanced ventilator management, advanced pharmacology and care of special populations such as neonates and pediatrics.

Provides operational and clinical supervision to the Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Critical Care divisions of HealthEast Medical Transportation in order to successfully meet the objectives of contractual agreements and the business needs of the organization.

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Ensures deployment and policy compliance for crews out in the field
  • Provides real-time clinical assessments of staff and provides feedback to the Medical Director and Operations Manager

  • Provides input and cooperates with Medical Director to create/revise new medical guidelines and protocols as necessary

  • Rounds with staff and provides performance appraisals of assigned staff

  • Enhances partnerships with local First Responder Agencies

  • Performs liaison activities between HealthEast Medical Transportation and its BLS, ALS, and Critical Care transport contract stakeholders

  • Provides coaching to employees in the field as directed

  • Fills staffing needs as necessary, acting as a crew member to ensure appropriate resource levels

  • Provides supervision and work direction on assigned shift or within department

  • Hires, terminates, disciplines, evaluates and manages performance of assigned staff

  • Escalates sensitive employee issues to next level leader

  • Assists with the day-to-day management of timekeeping, payroll, equipment, and other operational expenses

  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards

  • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifiations:

 

  • Trade or Vocational Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association for the health care provider
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified EMT current with the EMSRB and NREMT National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, and 800B
  • State Certified Paramedic through the MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) through the MN Department of Public Safety
  • Critical Care Paramedic through EMS EDUCATION
  • Valid Driver’s license and DMV record that meets HealthEast insurability requirements
  • Ability to safely lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 150 pounds
  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification must be completed within 18 months from of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years Paramedic experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
