Pay Rate: $19 – $25 per hour

20 hours per week

First established in 1929 by the Minnesota Legislature to manage the Saint Paul Harbor, the Port Authority was granted inland economic development authority in 1955. With its four ports in the Saint Paul Harbor and 17 inland business centers, the Port Authority’s mission is to expand the Saint Paul tax base, serve as a conduit to quality job opportunities, advance sustainable and equitable development, and advocate for river commerce.

This part-time position supports essential finance and accounting functions across government, non-profit, and for-profit entities

  • Support the accounts payable (AP) processing, invoice verification, tracking invoice approvals and data entry
  • Support accounts receivable (AR) tasks, such as payment tracking and customer account reconciliation, running outstanding AR report, and follow-up on open receivables
  • Monitor bank accounts and reconcile daily cash transactions to ensure accuracy
  • Review daily incoming payment notifications and invoices and distribute to proper individuals for approval
  • Conduct data entry for the grant reporting module and assist with financial analysis as needed
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects and process improvements
  • Two years of experience in bookkeeping with emphasis in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Candidates with accounting or government experience preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central a plus.
